“the lounge” -half and a quarter idea

March 11, 2009

Thinking about the type of production style i’d like to develop and mould i’m really looking forward to getting into this project.

My brain worked liked this….mmm lounge. not a couch. not this not that. ok definitely don’t want to do anything literal.

  • lounge = resting/not doing anything = lounger = bum/lethargic = no. start again
  • lounge = abstract = no lounge = absence of lounge = lounge is lounging/taking a break = someone upset about missing lounge = postcard/tropical island = tears falling = missing objects/awkward space

So … that was what popped into my brain. When Alyssa said it was like a ‘tropfest’ entry i knew that i wanted to do something quite silly. When thinking about production styles i realise that comedy plays a large role in my pieces. I also find that particular sound helps to help ideas flow and visualize the scene/plot . I might have to see whether i can compose something or if i can mix with someone else and i might even add some animation or stop motion in there just to mix it up and be a little crazy.

Here are a few developments to the idea.. very rough idea of a domestic environment where my idea will be centered around.

What comes to mind is the idea of “awkward spaces” . What happens (maybe to do with feng shui) when there is an empty space? Does it need to be filled? and why?

Connecting

March 5, 2009

I’m a third year Media and Communications student. I jump on the bandwagon of new social media sites and hope for the best. I’m a fully fledged micro-blogger on twitter, love my dailybooth, but i’ve never taken up the sport of wordpress. Here goes. I’m keen about Editing and any sort of post production job i can get my hands on. I love the creative side of editing where you cut and paste and stick it all back together again hoping that no one notices the cuts. This blog will be a mixture of stuff but will mainly focus upon broadcast rather than journalism and print based media. I am all for this learning approach as a great hands-on experience to understanding the powerful way in which technology is going to connect and expand the way we think about media. Even now media companies are looking towards young people for inspiration and solutions on how to fully utilize the technologies that are emerging. For example…..

PROJECT NEXT Is looking for young people to start thinking about ways in which we can “abandon the usual definitions” of news broadcast formats, and create interesting and unique shows that break away from the regular predictable and unchanging news formats of ’60 minutes’ and other unimpressive current affair shows. check it out. They are looking for producers, graphic artists, editors, reporters, directors, researchers and web content producers.
